Bread. It seems like a regular thing, right? Yes, it is very regular. Most people probably have bread in some form at least once a day. Even in cartoons, prisoners are given BREAD with some water as a meal. I can only assume actual prisoners are given bread as well. So we're all familiar with it in its many forms; loaved, rolled, sliced, sticked, crumbed, bunned, toasted... Are there more? Probably. Restaurants. They also seem pretty normal. You can drive down the road and see many familiar names of eateries. They have commercials to show new, fancy meals. They offer us their specials and specialties. There's usually some THING that they try to push on everyone: Hops = beer, Outback = steak, Carrabba's = pasta, etc., etc. You get the idea. What is everyone's obsession with the bread offered at various eating establishments? "OOH, FREE BREADSTICKS! They are SOOO good!!" Free breadsticks? Offer me free drinks and maybe I'll consider overpaying for my ravioli. "You have to try their bread!! They pour some oil and seasonings in a bowl and OOOH the bread is delicious!" A miniature loaf of hard crusted bread and some oil to make it taste better. "Are you going to eat your garlic bread? I still have sauce on my plate I want to eat." Garlic-flavored edible sponges. "We finished our bread, can we have more while we wait for our food?" Yes, have more bread, the filler before the actual food so you can eat 4 bites of your meal and take it home to reheat it and have it not taste as good, or not eat it at all. IT'S JUST BREAD! HOW MANY LOAVES HAVE YOU BOUGHT AND THROWN OUT IN THE LAST YEAR? I'm going to make a sandwich. |
