spring has sprung
everyone wilt away
no waiting for next season
no shallow grave
no new seedlings

summer's a dead heat
colors grow dull
hillsides thick with weeds
trees heavy with leaves
dandelions losing seeds

fall is what everything does
lay on the ground to rest
greens turn brown
spirits drag along
all that was up comes down

winter's an unshakeable chill
get close for comfort
snowflakes holding hands
the sun is running away
the cold so still it stands
